Is the LT4 Hotcam (218/228) too much of a cam to put in my TBI? I was wondering about doing that and some Vortec Heads + Intake manifold. Can the Vortec heads accept 1.6 RR's or do I have to elongate the pushrod holes? Does anybody think this is a bad combo? $2000 and I have a fresh performance oriented rebuilt valvetrain.

Actually I wanted to do an LT1 + 4L60E swap but the costs will actually go all the way up to $5000 (I want a fresh valvetrain in there), not to mention the time and hassles (it's my daily driver).

Yes, its too big of a cam for the TBI computer to handle, in my opinion. Stick to intake durations under 210º.

Agreed with Kevin on that one - run a cam with a max. of about 210 @ 0.050", with 112-114 lobe seperation angle. You need stock or near stock vacuum #'s for the stock TBI computer to be happy. You can run the 1.6 rollers, but I would elongate the pushrod holes for insurance. I run Vortecs on my 413", and I elongated the pushrod holes for the .488/.510 cam lift I run. Not certain I needed to do that for this cam, but I did it anyway just in case.
