lt1 cam?
as far as mods to the camshaft you will need to push the dowel pin in,the proper depth
best way to do it is to get a timing sprocket for your tbi engine place the gear on the cam
and tap the pin flush with the sprocket face with a small center punch and hammer.
other than that just reassemble, some say you need to retune the car but i did not and it ran fine a little hesitant off idle.if it is bad you can prolly buy a modded chip from someone on ThirdGen.Org
also check the play in your factory distributor if it moves up and down too much you should replace it!

alright thanks for your help. im wondering, at what point does my factory tbi become a bottleneck, it has a performer intake on it already but im wondering the capabilities of the tbi itself, does anyone know the cfm rating on it? are there any junkyard throttle bodies that will bolt up and flow some more? and how much hp do you think the stock one can support? im kinda new to the tbi's and since this is my winter beater car, i really dont want to spend much on it. if anyone could help out id appreciate it, thanks
There is a sticky post on the TBI forum over at thirdgen.org that walks you thru the LT1 cam upgrade process.
As far as HP, dont even bother trying to get any power out of it. Its a daily driver type of engine with decent TQ and gas mileage, but it was never meant to be a power producer.
Stock CFM for the two barrel TBI is about 450-500 cfm. There are 670 cfm upgrade throttle bodies, but you wont need them on a 305. The fuel becomes the issue first. Two injectors cant feed 8 cylinders as well as 8 injectors can.
Change the exhaust to a 3" cat back, and call it done.
