You know, I don't always agree with Eric but I am also not one to say he or anyone is biased unless they have come up with solid proof. That is kinda harsh and before I accuse you of something, I'm sure you would like me to prove it beyond reasonable doubt. Now, if you show me 100 bad happennings at that shop and that he defended most of them even when it looks rediculous, I'll believe it. However, just that they are a sponsor of his site is not enough in my book to say for sure there is a bias.

You know what's funny...Jeff is trying to call me biased, yet look who is biased against TPIS. Damn hypocrite.

He's just mad that the chip that TPIS burned for him didn't increase his power levels to his desired levels. People throw parts at their cars and build engines without knowing what they're putting together and then ask for a "level 5" chip and think that their combo will make huge power. That is not how things work.

So he thinks TPIS sucks, just like all of his other TPIS-hating buddies who have done the same thing...thrown something together and ordered a "level 5" chip only to find out their combo sucks and in turn blame TPIS for their low power levels.

I've seen a number of threads with people like this, spouting off at the mouth. I'm sure there have been a few bad experiences with them, but that is to be expected with ANY shop. That's an unfortuante part of life. No one can be perfect EVERY time.

I always tell people, if you're not happy with the way something is done by somoene else, than do it yourself. That way you have no one to blame but yourself.

Not to get off topic, but tpis does suck. Their miniram fuel line kits suck, their customer service sucks when you call them on their non-fitting thermostat housing, and they routinely ship you the wrong/incorrect parts. I have many friends with minirams including myself who have all gone through this. They also can't burn a chip to save their lives. Friend with the miniram and their level 5 chip tried to get them to fix a rich idle, after messing with them, we finally bought the chip burning stuff and taught ourselves, all they had to do was adjust the lower ve tables based on the blm's, but you would think that for $500 for a chip they would have a clue.

I think LPE sends people to formato for chips. I don't think LPE will be cheap though.

I told you the bin I sent you is the one that tpis couldn't get right and we fixed on our own, it will need tweaking, as everybody's combo is different. Just my $.02, but you should start burning your own, the map cars are more sensitive to changes in the weather and parts, so you would be chasing your tale sending chips back and forth in the mail to anybody. I did that with ed wright, and finally bought my own stuff.

I have never dealt with TPIS so I really cannot say about their shop and how it carries itself. Personally, I would never use an "Off the Shelf" chip. I tried that with Arizona Speed and Marine and the first thing I got was an engine check light.

Lingenfelter does not scramble his chips and you can pop them in a chip reader and it will work. Formato scrambles theirs. LPE is not cheap because they will have to load the equipment into the car and have an assistant in the pass side while John would drive it. So you would be taking up 2 people's time and John's time does not come cheap. I believe it was around $400 a few years ago.

When I worked with Formato, I gave them the specs and they sent me a chip. I also borrowed their Diacom which would take readings, email them to Formato and they would send another chip. I have used them a couple of times and a couple of friends have too and have had no problems. First chip sorta comes close and by the 3rd burn, it is on target or pretty damn close.

But it doesn't matter anyway. It boils down to there being a reason why higher authorities like the BBB aren't on Jeff's or anyone else's side. Because their cases/claims/stories are legal jokes.

But it appears you did just as I tell others...if you're not happy with something than do it yourself so you have no one to blame but yourself. Congrats.

Eric I’ve gone in circles with you over this before and nothing ever changes with you. You’ve heard my particular point on TPIS so many times one would think you would at least have a better understanding by now. It comes up because people ask about it and that's that. Someone brought it up so I added my point and had you received the same treatment from any company similar I’m sure you would do the same when asked a question pertaining to a similar ordeal.

You try to stir up so much as if you are going to make some sort of difference, I only wish you knew a little more about it as it’s very clear you don’t at this point. If you had paid any attention you would know that I went the traditional route and gave TPIS every chance in the book to set things right. It is true that I paid them to do a service and not only did they cheat me, they screwed me everyway possible. I’m not even going to get into the detailed description as I’ve said I’ll let it rest before and I will but you need to get a few things straight and pull your act together. It would be nice if you would either start presenting some decent points of view or move on. You have added nothing to this thread or any of the others of similar nature by bringing them down with basic accusations with nothing to back them. All you do is call names and type up bs and people let you get away with it. This is why you and I get into it from time to time, what is your reasoning behind all of this? If you have a problem with my car and I then take it up with me personally off of things like this. Either step up and confront me like you should or move on, there are much better ways to handle it then by replying with unnecessary things in every single one of my threads. Criticism, dislike, etc are all things I accept without any problem so long as they are followed up with reasoning. These are all things you attempt but yet you never have anything valid to express why you feel that way.

With that out of the way if you knew anything about foreign business practices and the BBB you wouldn't have made the comments you have in this thread or any of the other things you've tried to pull. It’s a fact that it requires more then just a simple complaint to be filed with the BBB for them to pursue a business, more then a few actually. You need action to be taken as well by the said person, which in English for you would require a formal suit. Suits against foreign business practices are not only costly and time consuming but rather impossible for the average person to get through without a serious amount of money invested. Most lawyers will not take consumer damages as a charity case. TPIS knew this, which is probably why they thought they would get away with what they did. If you had any idea about this sort of thing you would stop a second before you spouted off about things you obviously know nothing about.

This is the type of things I'm talking about that you do 99% of the time. If you actually had paid attention and thought for a second you would know that I have more then enough proof and that the BBB is on my case but because to this date no lawyer will touch the case in my area without a $7,000 exposure limit with a $2,000 serving fee I’ve pretty much let it go. Because TPIS is out of state I’m pretty much out of water and this makes things a lot more costly as well as difficult to get done. I could go through small claims in representing my own case but when I won I’d have to pay an even higher fee just to serve TPIS. I’m not about to spend 10,000 to go after a company for $5,000 in damages. If I am anything like you claim I am, I would have the money to do it and laugh the whole way right? To this date you’re the only person who has ever had such a problem over this subject and has yet to come back with anything substantial. The worst part is I have no problem with you disagreeing Eric, I think it’s fine that you question me, but you really don’t just do that as you would rather approach it in all the wrong ways.

There is a difference you say? True, after all Heston is just the president of the NRA..... However you’re just the co-founder of the Minnesota F-body association.... I don't know maybe someone else will figure it out?? In the meantime while I’m not saying your biased I’m suggesting it clear as day as you don't have a lot of evidence to prove otherwise. The fact is you have never replied with anything other then bs comments and terrible attempts at points of reference that half the time isn’t even related to the said topic. You claim you aren't biased and that if TPIS were a bad company you would say so, then show us how it isn't possible that you’re biased.

You like to say it's my word that TPIS did these things to me and that I asked for it, saying things like this is as much your word as you say it's mine however there is a difference between us. You claim I just threw some combination together and prayed that TPIS could magically make it work...... that's a lot of hot air you’re typing. Here again you are showing you know nothing about what's going on. The difference between us Eric is I don't have any ties to TPIS; I have proof that what they did was wrong. I even have proof that I gave them chances to work it out before I decided to let anyone know about it or as you would like to put it “badmouth” them basically putting TPIS the company down.

You on the other hand are tied together with an organization that is associated with TPIS, so I for one find it hard to believe anything otherwise. You try and put on this act that you’re tired of hearing bs stories and when it comes down to it you must just have a problem with me. The sad thing is that you have no real substantial argument towards my TPIS problem so you revert to name calling and filling up your replies with nonsense. You may or may not have a problem with my car and myself, I’ll never know however I can only go off of the way you are on here and you sure seem to be quick making witty remarks. While I personally could care less what you think of my car or myself it would be nice if you actually had some reasoning behind your actions. I actually agree with you on something, yeah I spent my money poorly. I went to TPIS with a plan and took their advice every step of the way..... Unfortunately when their great plan fell apart and they had nowhere to turn they had nothing left to say but "sue us" knowing in full what type of problems I’d run into. You haven't got the slightest idea about business practices and the law or you wouldn't run your mouth here in such a way. A lot of people have complained about TPIS but they run into the same ignorant people at the other end trying to cut them down. Rather then giving possible answers with simple solutions you'd rather just be negative and act the way you do.

You say those of us in these situations are just “pissing and moaning without a leg to stand on”, that we are just looking for people to point fingers at. Well I can’t speak for every person who has ever had a problem with TPIS but I’ll tell you that I went through every possible thing I could to prove that it wasn't TPIS and their parts. The absolute last thing I wanted was to believe that all my problems were because of TPIS, however everything I had checked out on the car points to TPIS and my problems being their fault. Being affiliated with TPIS I’m sure you do see this EVERY day. I agree with you 100%, I should have spent the money more wisely and I have gotten over it, but I’ll be damned if your going to keep me quiet and because of my incident when someone asks now others will also know to spend their money more wisely hopefully starting with a better company. The way I look at it the fact that people are informed is enough for me.

I’m not one to call anyone jealous but this is really something here. Your not only trying to put me down, but your putting down every person here who has ever told someone that they liked their idea or that they did a good job. I share things with people because I like to and sure I get a kick out of it if someone likes something I do but I have yet to go around rubbing anything I’ve done in someone's face. I’m the first one here to try and help someone out with something if I can. Your the one who follows me around on here posting such unrelated things that isn't necessary just looking to push buttons so naturally I’m not one to sit and let you get away with it. You want to talk predictable, it seems as if you type before you think and you hardly have anything constructive to say, especially in my threads. You are always looking to point the finger at me for something and your most common comments are about someone kissing my *** or some other excuse to try and cut me down. If you don't like what you read then move on because if I was half as bad as you say then things would be much different around here. The fact of all of this is it just makes you look jealous when you say those things, as you’re the only "assclown" that has such rude things to say towards someone right off the start. As a change though why not grow up a bit and answer truthfully. Why not for once tell us all why you think TPIS did what they did or what reason I would have to make this entire thing up. I am not a dictating force here and everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion but if someone is going to say something negative then there should be some reasoning behind it. My comment I made in response to a post was based on things that can be looked up here. Most know about it and what’s done is done, all I’ve ever wanted out of the ordeal was for at least one person out there to have an informed chance unlike myself because of people like you Eric who try to cover things up.

 

aklim i value your opinion as much as the next person and i can see your point here to a degree. Eric does what he does because he gets a kick out of it and that's that. while i'm not saying he's biased i am suggesting it because of all the evidence that points to it. i agree that i don't think anyone would want someone to accuse someone of something that was wrong however one has to look at the facts and make their own decision. eric has yet to back up anyone who has had a problem with TPIS and the fact is he is tied in some way with TPIS so it only makes him look that much more the part. as i have said before if i could show you 100 bad happenings at that shop i would......i could give you countless links to threads across the internet that showed people having complaints but what would it really do. i agree as well that just because Eric is a part of a club that's associated is no gaining reason why he would be biased towards them but when you are a co-founder of a club your a little more then a member. i'm not saying he is or isn't biased as it really doesn't matter. i agree one should learn to do their own chip burning which is where i'm at today with help from people like yourself. all of which i wish i had three years ago before all of this mess started. thank you for your reply on lingenfelter.


onefastgta, thank you for the help with the things you have and when i get everything done we'll still do what we talked about. i know that LPE won't be cheap but they aren't really doing the chip. they are helping me out with the tools i need to finish off the car and to give me a second opinion while doing so. once again i appreciate it as always.


z28 84chev i have no idea if your talking to me or not as i can hardly understand your type but if in fact you are you have clearly missed everything that i have said. if after reading everything you actually feel that anyone at any point in this thread has a problem with people in general from MN or really anyone on this site you need to get your head examined.

 

#1. I'm not going to waste the kind of time that you did on typing some long-winded reply, as what I have to say doesn't matter much to you anyway, based on what you've just written and what I've just wasted my time reading.

#2. I'm not jealous of you or your car nor do I have any problems with you or your car. In fact, I've always thought your car was well done, etc. I'm not one to be jealous. So to make comments about me being that sort of thing is a joke. You're trying to come up with reasons as to why I may have an issue with you.

#3. I don't follow you around talking trash about you. The only time I've ever got into it with you, was when you did something very similiar to this, pointing fingers and making lame threats (which makes you look completely ignorant) about beating up personal of TPIS. I would be embarassed if I were you, and I think it's hilarious and pathetic at the same time, so I make note of it.

#4. I don't need to offer any back up as to why I am not biased towards one company or another. You're hell bent on the idea that because I am affiliated with them, that I am all for them. Think what you will...but if you want to burn TPIS to the ground, that is just fine with me, as that is your opinion and your choice to do.

#5. I have had nothing but excellent experiences with TPIS, even before starting my club. My club has been around for over 3 years now, and I've been working with them for the last 7 years. Again...nothing but positive experiences, so why would I have a problem with them? You WANT me to have a problem with them, because you do and you want people on your side. It's a natural instinct.

#6. You appear to be a psychologist and you know what I'm thinking, why I'm thinking it, and why I say and do the things I do. Since you seem to know all of that, why are you asking me for reasons for my actions/words?

#7. I really have nothing else to say to you. None of what I say matters to you anyway, and I'm tired of typing. You believe, think, say, and do what you want to, regardless of what anyone else believes, thinks, says or does. So what's the point of even discussing any of this?

i stand by everything i said and i don't think the way you have come off in the past is fair but i'll give you that respect from your reply above and tell you that's alot better then what i expected out of you........i too do not have a problem with you. i think more often then not we do get off on the wrong foot because of one thing or another. i've said it time and time again that although there are people who have had problems with TPIS there are those who have had success, i just think that all points should be allowed expression. if i was truly wanting to hurt someone at TPIS or go through any such actions that you are speaking about it wouldn't be such a wise decision to broadcast it on the internet would it? i've made statements before that i hope TPIS nor i ever cross paths but it isn't a life threatening situation which i'm sure most get. you and i both know this, while as hard as it is for you to believe i value all opinions even your own. i just wish you would present your opinions in better ways than you have lately. again we constantly go in circles, whats said is said and i too will leave it alone.

 

To be perfectlyu honest, I would say that even LPE has their share of customers who feel they have been ripped off. My issue is that I have not seen a bunch of people venting about TPIS so until I do see that, I will be more willing to give them the benifit of the doubt. If they have too many people claiming they screwed them like that guy who modifies Vipers then I will begin to have my doubts.

 

all very true, look hard enough and you'll find at least one thing bad about everything. there are points out there just with another company.

as i said the only reason i asked about LPE is it's on the way. that way i can be there in person with the car. something that i'm sure would have made a huge difference had i been able to do the same with TPIS.

 

here is the problem. big shops like them who are well known. have there good praise and there bad praise. the bad praise gets thrown everywhere. BTW i would never buy from TPIS. there attuide and there product was both horrible and a waste of my time to call and order it. but i do like edelbrock, i have never dealt with them other than a few phone calls. and tehy seemd ok to me. i have there catback and a few other parts and i like them. BTw jeff i would be mad if my phr broke too
