Lightbulbs for 87-89 style spoiler mounted brake light???

I need new bulbs for my 3rd brake light. Mine is mounted into the spoiler. I heard someone tell me they purchased them at radio shack, but the idiots I talked to there did not know anything, all 5 of mine were burnt out, so I have nothing to go on visually. Local parts shops were baffled and no one stocks this. Is this a Dealer only part??? I know GM is gonna charge a ton for each little bulb. Does anyone have some insight??? I was thinking about screwing the whole stock thing and rigging up my own LED strip..... Does someone carry LED's that run on 12 volts? I dont wanna blow any out.... Thanks guys

Will

Years ago they were expensive, but then again I was in Germany. The last time I bought any it was either at an Advance or Auto zone. Maybe $2-3 ea. I have the PN# down in the car, I'll post it later.

Or even dumber trying to fab a more expensive LED display.
LED isn't dumb. I am going to do that mod eventually on my cars.

LED's are great. They run cooler, draw less current, turn on and off faster, and basically last forever (~100,000 hour burn life.) I made taillights with them. It's true that the fabrication does take time, but it's well worth the effort IMHO.

They are available at Radio Shack. They are not idiots and they are not a Auto Parts store, so your question may have seemed dumb from you "asking for a bulb for a 3rd brake light" .
Now for your question the Radio Shack P/N is 272-1177
EXTRA BRIGHT HALOGEN LAMP 12-volt DC 20 watt Bi-Pin for $1.99
depending on store.

Or you can be a idiot and go to the Dealer and PAY $14.00 each for this item. Or even dumber trying to fab a more expensive LED display.

Thanks for the part numer dickless. You abviously don't know **** about cars if you are going to say that LED are not worth it. And yes people that work at radio shack are idiots. They know nothing about anything, its a pitty thats one of the few places you can find alot of stuff. Why so bitter, sounds like you work there??? I asked for a 12v DC miniature bulb...... I did not specify for a third brake light. So get the facts before you start bro, people here wanna be different and do something unique, not like your dumbasss and just go with whats convenient..... Sack up

I still think it's funny that DJP has this "I'm right so everyone can shut up now" attitude, and when anyone tries to say ANYTHING different from his opinion, he gets all offended and starts trying to flame people. Apparently he's not able to have a constructive discussion....it all turns into an arguement and a flame war with him. Oh well, let him have his attitude. The rest of us can help each other out and let him stew in his hatred of everything non-DJP.

Oh and incidentally....Radio Shack employees are not trained in electronics, they're trained in sales. So as far as knowing how to find electronic components goes....they ARE idiots.
