It's hard to say what the noise could be: Have you removed the wheels and looked around yet? It could be a bad rotor. It could be worn-out lower ball joints, too. Is it a big, loud popping noise that happens just once? If so, it could be the spring moving around on the spring perch. Mine does that, too. It started when I cut my springs and I dont worry about it much. If the popping is consistent with a rotating tire, check your inner fenderwell and see if it is interfering with the tire. Mine does that too, especially with 17 x 9.5 inch wheels out front!

I have the same problem, when I turn the wheel to full lock, something pops. I was told it is the upper strut mount. Im not sure, but I do have new ball joints so that shouldnt be my problem anyways.

Check your ball joints and get them fixed. This is actually an easy repair and they lend you the tools at auto zone. Sounds to me likes its the ball joints.

dose the sound come from the rear? mine did it in my 91 z-28 expecially after numerous burnouts. try with the car in park pushing it back and forth in the rear fender if you hear the clunking noise it is your shims worn down in the axle. i bet if you try burn outs you get alot of one wheel peels and then sometimes it will lock both. i did it to mine and fixed it.

bumping noise

I have a 1989 IROC and had the same problem. mine turned out to be the trans. mount. the drive shaft was hitting when I was in a sharp turn.

check the steering box for tightness and all the other components. Get someone to turn the wheel while you listen.
