Just bought an '86 Camaro- What should I do.

Re: Just bought an '86 Camaro- What should I do.
I'd like to thank you guys for all your help but I still need help on one more thing. Although I'll probably end up just getting a muffler and tips instead of the whole cat-back kit, I'd still like to know what the difference is between the 2 following exhausts, beccause I can't figure i out for the life of me!
Kits:
Forget it..... Summit is being retarded right now, I'll try to find the kits with links and I"ll post them later....
EDIT: Allright, sorry but I'm just gonna have to give you the part numbers for summit's website and you guys can see them. They are both Dynomax systems.
Part #'s:
1) 17390
2) 17495
Also, will these fit? I really like them becasue it's almost like a dual set-up and it's really cheap. When I typed in the make, model, and year at Summit's website it said they would, but I jus want to make sure. Thanks.
Another example, here are 2 Hooker systems I found that have the same specs and look the same, however I can't see what the difference is between the 2 is!?!?

If your pipe from the catalytic converter to the muffler is already mandrel bent, then both will probably have the same horsepower gain. If you are looking for loudness alone, then check the dynomax website. They have some sample sounds for you for a few of their mufflers.

I'm not looking for sound, I'm looking for power. The main thing I wanted to know, is what is the BEST performing cat-back system out there for these cars? Sound, although it's a plus, is not as important as power.
I'm planning on just keeping my muffler for now and maybe just getting some nice chrome tips for it. You guys think my muffler is good right now? It's not too restrictive?

Re: Just bought an '86 Camaro- What should I do.
After reading the post about losing the cats I wanted to reply before reading the whole thread.
Bottom line it is a BAD idea. Besides being illegal it is rather silly. Right now high-flow cats do not cost you any power you will notice. You will fail the emissions sniffer and if a future owner of the car discovers the gutted cats you and the shop that installed them can go to jail.
Just like those who do not install their front license plates you are just asking for trouble. If you can't afford to do the exhaust right and legal than wait until you can.
