Yes it's a 7.625" or 7 5/8", but is still sometimes refered to as a 7 1/2" rear...I have a Zexel Torsion Posi same as a late model Z.
Have you checked the ratios to see what you already have, see the numbers stamped on the ring gear as 42:13, divide the two and you get 3.23's...

No, it depends. The 87 IROC can have a 9-bolt rear end, or a 10-bolt rear end like the 2000 Camaro. What engine is in the IROC? That will help. If its a 350 engine, then you definitely have the 9-bolt rear end.
The then the IROC gears will need to be 3.23 or higher number as said, or you'll need a ring gear spacer. And yeah, I was assuming you meant they were both 10 bolts', ID'ed by the number of bolts in the rear cover. I'd find some 3.73 GM's out of an S10....
