Intake Question

I'm just curious, i heard a LT1 intake will just bolt right onto my engine, but will an LS1 intake bolt on there too or no? And if they both do, do i need to change anything else besides the intake? or do i need to change the computer and stuff too?

No way an LT1 intake will bolt up and let you run without some work first. Waht about your distributor hole?

Not sure about the LT1 but in any case, when you go to a higherflow intake you will need to recalibrate your EPROM to get the max effect out of it.

Sorta. You need to rerun your fuel lines but that should be ok. HOWEVER, with the HSR you have no egr so you need to decide if it is important to you or not.

the LT1 intake conversion has been done. Yes, there is some machine work involved but after that it will bolt right on. My website has lots of details. I have been converting LT1 intakes for 3 years now.

the LS1 is a totally differant animal. It cannot be made to bolt on to a SBC no matter what you do to it.

so which is better, the LT1(converted) or the HSR? and would an LT4(converted) manifold work too? and how much does an LT4(converted) manifold cost?

That's the big question, which is beter. I'll tell you the truth, if the HSR would have came out in 2001 you wouldn't see me selling LT1 intakes. I started converting them in 2001 because the Miniram was and still is way overpriced.

Here's a great intake compare link. Draw you own conclusions, I'm a little partial.

I don't recomment converting the LT4 intake for a few reasons. First, it's higher intial cost. You don't find LT4 intakes in junkyards so you need to buy new. That alone makes it not worth it. Second, the ports are differant then teh LT1 and would require porting to match SBC heads. Not much but enough to add to the cost alot. Here's a picture link chowing the differant intake ports.
