injector swap

I have to pull a dead injector to replace it and was wondering if its possible to unbolt the intake runners at the base and basically pull the whole tpi unit in one piece. Also ive never swapped an injector b4 when i unbolt the fuel rail and pull the injector isnt fuel going to come spraying out? Id rather not have my engine covered in gasoline. How can i stop that from happening? Any tips for someone whos never done it before.

Well I don't know what to tell ya about the injector, but an easy way to relieve fuel pressure is to pull the fuel pump fuse out of the fuse box and then run the car till it dies (won't take long.) It'll still drip a bit but it won't spray in your eye.

An even easier way to release the pressure is to remove the gas cap. You don't have to go through that much work to pull the injector(s). All you need to do is remove the plenum and then there are 2 bolts holding each fuel rail on. If you need to, pull the screws holding the lines going into the regulator and whola, it is off. You can do it in about 15 minutes. Pretty simple proceedure, done it too many times to want to do it again..

Hope that helps.

That only vents the pressure off the tank and vent line, not the fuel lines themselves.
