Ignition Coil

do you guys have any input on which coil I should buy? which ones have you had good or bad experiences with...i need a new one, just not sure which to get...everybody said that had the MSD said they hated it and they only lasted like 8 months..

Accel 300+ is probably the best, but I like Petronics too. Stock replacement, Neihof has been trouble free.

Yeah, the Accel is a very good coil, I ran that in my previous third-gen bird with no problems.

isn't the 300+ a ignition box system? I was looking through the coils and couldn't find just a coil called 300+..

can't find them...just found the package deal again...and that looks like an hei coil...i need a remote mounted...

could somebody show me a part number or link for just the coil? or does accel make any other good coils?

Yours looked like a Coil-in-cap, from the pictures, not sure if a 300+ is available but these will do a Great Job!...

nope mine is remote mounted, had to switch becuase of the HSR...so no more HEI...what about the pertronic xtreme 60,000? also which ohm of ristance should I be looking for?

You still have HEI. Otherwise, you would have points....

ohh...but its remote mounted coil which is different than the coil in cap style coil isn't it?

A performance module will do more for your ignition than a hot coil, by increasing dwell time and decreasing recharging time. Accel modules:

alright thanks...accel sounds like the way to go...what is that last product you listed there? i've never seen one...what does it do and where does it go? also which one would I need to run it on my car? i'm thinking I need one of the 8 pin ones..

Since you switched to a remote mount distributor, you'll need the 8 pin, but I'm not sure how you will wire up this distributor to work correctly w/o the right harness, but I'm sure if you researched it, it can be done..

Oh, it's what the harness plugs into at the distributor, remove the cap, you'll see it's screwed down to the base and the pick-up coil wires are connected to it inside the distributor.
