its probably not necessary, but for some of us in cold weather its probably not a bad thing to have when the temp hits -15 C

Actually the aluminum T/B will shrink enough that the blades will not close all the way, and if they do they will stick...Mine has done it before, mostly under 25*F outside...(Idles high and sticks)

Im sure this has to have something to do with emissions as well, though.

Similar to the heat riser tube that used to be on my truck. (TBI)

Of course, if it freezes you can always apply heat to the TB to fix the problem. That or start the engine and let it run for a bit. I use a 90 deg hose and cut to length which is the bypass.

Guess ill head over to Home Depot today after work and play around with it.

I was going to just bid on one of those auctions on Ebay, so that Im absolutely sure I get the right part (you guys have no idea how many times I have screwed up and gotten wrong parts to fabricate things, and ended up just screwing it all to pieces). But I dont feel like waiting on an ebay auction and for them to ship it (plus I dont use paypal anymore, so add in the time it takes to ship a check).

A hoe is a gardening instrument. How does it help here?

They have hoes in the lawn and garden department but I am sure they don't have the hose you are looking for.
