How should i mod the L98?

I will be getting back in the 3rd gen game soon and i want to make around 350-400 rwhp. Whats the best/cheapest way to get there N/A. Should I stroke it or do heads/cam/intake? The whole thing will have to be emissions legal. I know this project won't be cheap but I need to do it as cheap as possible do to being in school soon. Throw some numbers and combos at me guys. Thanks

Well you could do the vortec heads, and hot cam. That combo will pass the sniffer but will be short of your hp goals. In a 3400 pound car you should see 12's.Hot cam is about 180.00.Manifold is 400.00.I believe the heads are only 600.00.slp runners another 200.00.Bigger throttle body 300.00(more or lessie brand)there is alot of misc stuff to.Complete exhaust 800.00(headers,cat,and cat-back)Good trans rebuild 1800 with a good converter, new posi ,gears, install kit 750.00.If you car you get has high miles your better off getting a new short block for 1,200 thats all new with 4bolt main.

401wrhp. ZZ4 350 short block, reworked L98 aluminum heads(bigger valves, 5 angle valve job, pocket port and port match), LT4 hot cam kit(1.6 rockers), 58mm throttle body, 24lb/hr injectors, adjustible fuel pressure regulator, High performance fuel pump(in tank), CAI, LPE/edelbrock ram air intake, Borla cat back w/high flow cat, and of course programming. Over $5,000.
But all was new so it could be done for a lot less.
Also I would not do this combo today, better parts out there now!

L98, with either aftermarket or reworked heads, Stealth Ram bigger injectors, better fuel pump , adjustable pressure regulator, should get you close. Get a stall convertor, shift kit, subframe connectors and you should be hard to touch on the street.
