That is correct. The auto tranny models range from 190 to 215 depending upon the year.

It depends on how many catalytic converters your car has and which options. If you have two cats with the G92 option and disc brakes, then its 230 HP. If you have the single cat with drum brakes, then you have 205 HP. The difference is the 230 HP models have a much better exhaust.

Auto vs. Manual: Manual cars got a larger cam (L98 cam if IIRC).

Just put a good flowing catback on. She'll sound sweet too

Check your RPO codes. G92 is what you're looking for. It's 3.42 gears I believe (might be 3.23?)

G80 is posi...GU6 is 3.42 gears...G92 is a performance package which was the 3.42's and some other nice stuff

you car probly has 3.08 gears, in which case you have 210 ponies

At least he has a manual. A NICE platform to throw in a 6 speed.

No, all 90-92 305 TPI engines got the L98 350 cam, regardless of options. The 205 HP vs 230 horsepower difference is partly marketing, and partly the exhaust difference. The 205 HP cars have the TBI 2 1/4" exhaust, while the 230 HP cars have dual cats with the TPI 350 2 3/4" exhaust.

Since you didnt find G92 in your RPO list, that means you have the 205 HP engine with the smaller exhaust. I trust you also only have a single cat, drum brakes, and you have GU2 in your RPO list for 3.08 rear end gears.

Its not the end of the world to have a lower performance TPI thirdgen. Be thankful you didnt buy a TBI car.

I'd take TBI over and L-98 100 times over.

s**t I'd take an LB-9 over and L-98 .

I've had a few 2-TBI car's they perfromed well.......

69 Amx 390 Dual Quad TBI's ran the best of 9.63@143mph....

then I got the 91GTA that some one swapped in an LO-5 it ran 14.80's @ 95.87mph. ran 3 times.

my LB-9 was running only 15.50's @ 93.37mph but it was still decent ...... Ran 4 time's.

then i got my L-98 and RIPped off a 16.11@88.9mph.

But I only ran it twice and the TBI car's did get 3 run's each so i guess the L-98 was at a disadvantage.

now i'm debatting to Try and fix The L-98 or just blow it up and get real engine like nice 327,400,427.............

.............
