How much for a bare block?
How much for a bare block?
How much should I expect to pay for a bare 350?
If someone could do a breakdown, such as if it needs to be rehoned, needs to be cleaned, etc. I'm just wondering....if the block is bare but 100% ready to be build, how much should I pay as opposed to a bare block that may need to be rehoned/cleaned.

I have seen fully prepped blocks run between 600-700 bucks.
So for one that has nothing done, I wouldn't pay more than 200-300, since the machine work can cost 200+ depending on what needs done.

Stuff can be much cheaper in certain parts of the country, like the wilds of West Texas. I broke the 400 in my Camaro, so I called around to machine shops to get a replacement. Found a shop that will deliver a 400 2-bolt main, hot tanked, bored/honed .030" over, surfaces decked, cam bearings installed for $240.
Call around, the phone can be your best friend.

i bought a 350 block from friendly chev out of the gm performance catalog
it has all the freeze plugs installed
painted black
and has a 4.000 bore with cam bearings installed
will i need it machined at all or should it be read y for me to install my rotating assembly?

I got a complete bottom end 350 with 4 bolt mains for $280 here in Minnesota. I started to strip it down and found out that the person that sold it to me lied about it. He said that it was a 355 and also told me it had only 20 miles on it. Unless the person that rebuilt it used the original parts there is no way that it has 20 miles on it. But on the plus side it has a really nice looking crank so I actually came out ahead. So as usual just be leary about what you are buying unless it is your best friend.
