I'm going to have to call bull**** on this. A stock 350 did not dyno at 397, hell even the LS1's don't do that stock.
And if you put in a 397hp motor your tranny isn't going to last too long especially if there is a 6cyl in there now. Your rear should hold up for a while, but as soon as you put slicks on it, its gone. Basically to have that kind of power and be able to use it properly your going to need lots of work.

No 350 made that much power stock. Either he is lying about the dyno or it is not stock.

Your tranny will hold up for maybe a year if you granny it. Mine lasted 6 months and that was a GM rebuild when I put the 383 in the car.

If you really put that much power in the car, put some sort of girdle around your rear end that will support the end caps or you will have cap walk which would probably mean a new rear end.

I wouldn't go with the TH350 unless you don't plan to do any driving except on a friday night as the gas mileage will probably kill whatever you saved on going that route instead of beefing the 700R4 up.

Yeah the lack of the OD is going to kill you with the gas. I think I would go with a t56 if its not going to be a drag car. The stock t56 will probably handel that power if you don't beat on it, and a slightly build one will definatly take it.

My Rossler built tranny held up for 3.5 years with me beating it 3 times a day on the average with WOT runs. I don't think that swapping a T56 in it would really be worth the trouble unless you are autocrossing.

The T-56 is probably the best street tranny ever built. It's factory rated at 450ftlb, and known to take significantly more with no modification....not to mention the .5:1 overdrive that will let you run 4.10 gears and still keep decent mileage. There's nothing else I'd put behind a 400hp engine (except a TH400 or Powerglide if the car was drag-only.)

YES..... stock car as in RACE car. I know no 350 dynoed that high at stock LMAO. This car will be a daily driver well at least semi daily. The reason I was wondering is because If I shell out the money to buy this engine I prolly wont have any money to do anything else for about a year.

I'd change the torque converter to a different stall one and leave it till it breaks. It won't break for a while anyway
