how important is the PCV oil baffle?
I'm my quest to install the M90, I have run across another problem. I'm sitting the S/C pretty much right on top the valve cover. I solved part of the problem by swapping the oil fill cover to ther other side, but I still have the problem of the PCV/breather hole being too far forward. I know I can plug the hole or have it welded shut, but do I need to move the baffle to the back also? or could I just drill a hole and pop a grommet in it and call it good?
How important is the oil baffle? And if it's pretty signifigant, how do I remove it without destroying it, or would I be better off using a "donor" v-cover?

You can probably make your own baffle with simply a couple pieces of steel window screen mesh and a piece of thin gage steel. The idea of the baffle is to create an area in which oil mist isn't spraying around from all the moving machinery. You can shelter the PCV pickup wherever you want. Just create the baffle so that any trapped oil splash can run down back into the spring pocket area of the cylinder head. You can even push it outwards off the side of the valve cover if you want, so long as it's angled at the bottom to drain back.
If you're running a PCV valve you WANT the baffle under it, trust me. Try to figure out some combination of flipping/swapping the covers to get everything you need where you want it.
An oil fill cap is unnecessary, by the way. You can easily fill the oil through the PCV hole with a skinny funnel on the rare occasions you need to add oil to the engine. If you have to choose between a stock oil fill cap and functional PCV system, definitely choose the functional PCV system!
