What kind of 305 do you have? TPI, TBI, carb, year?

A 305 with a set of box stock GM Vortec heads with a Comp XE 268 cam fed by a Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and any decent 750cfm carb with good exhaust should put you around 325HP - inexpensively too.

He has TPI so he would have to scrap his intake manifold to use vortech heads. I'd rather get a diffrent set that doesn't require me to use a certain manifold that only 1 person provides. For TPI that is.

I use a carb but the basic parts are all the same. My engine is in my sig. Yes, you can make 275 hp quite easily as long as you take the time to port and polish your stock heads. Follow the link at the end of my sig. Then you have heads that will work equally as well on a 350 when the 305 croaks

I have an LG4 in a 87 Z28. This is the 1st 305 car ive ever owned and id say with the cost that ive put into it, its a really nice engine. the engine was rebuilt back in 97 and i modded it after that.

Most 87 LG4 cars used roller cams. Chevrolet states that all got them, but several people have reported standard hydraulic flat tappet in theirs. You can either buy the expensive roller cam, or go with the hydraulic flat tappet and reuse the stock roller lifters and save a good bit of $.
