Don't quote me on this, but I think the fuel pump on 3rd gens is an in-tank model so you'll have to drop the tank-PITA. Once again, I'm not totally sure. Good luck!

Get yourself a set of fuel tank straps just in case. Also, get a shop to do it because it is convenient. If you are handy, you would need to drop the rear end but you can leave the torque arm in place. You can do it in the garage with a couple of floor jacks but it is a PITA. Make sure you run the car down as far as gas goes. How did you know it was the pump? Make sure before you start.

seriously, have a shop do it. it's a pain in the ***... you need a lift to take off your exhaust, rear end, and tank. it happened to me... firestone told me it would cost 488$ in about 2-3 weeks, but i went with my friend who did it for 400$ over night. he works at a chevy dealer and he used the lift to work on my car. i saved myself 88 bucks and i got myself genuine gm parts wish i took a pic of my fuel pump though... damn thing melted to pieces, lmao

I would find a mechanic to do it on the side. Cost me less that $150 cash

if you dont hear the pump kick on and you have no fuel pressure, then yeah, it's your fuel pump.... try sticking a long hose in your fuel tank, and put the other end to your ear... start the car up and listen to see what you hear. if you dont hear smack... then you're right when you assumed it was your fuel pump.

Make sure it isn't any wiring issues first. Make sure that you are getting power to the pump, then check to see if you get power to teh fuel pump relay.

and it's not that hard to change the pumps, just takes about 5 hours if it is your first time.
Just need 2 jackstands and a floorjack and some sockets and a ratched and a screwdriver or two.
Exhaust doens't have to come off, but makes it easier if it does.
We did my brothers pump with teh exhaust still on, just had to push it down really low.

If you plan on doing it, I can give you step by step instructions on what to do.
