i have a 92 birds with a 305 and TBI unit. i was wonderign what i have to do, to diable my speed limiter.

either disconnect the speed sensor wires(will lose speedo and set a code), or get it changed in the chip

TBI cars and V6 cars have limiters in them. I haven't seen a TPI car with a limiter set low enought to slow the car.

You cut the VSS and you also lose cruise control and set a code. Not sure if it does affect the way the ECM does the fuel mix tho. Also I believe 3rd gen TPIs came with speed limiters if the tires were not Z rated.

 

my 87 iroc had a speed limiter at 130 but when i got the new chip it disabled it

 

where do i get a chip for my car. and how much are they??

 

I honestly believe my car wopuld fall apart at 130mph if it can go that fast. At 85ish it starts shaking violently.

 

how fast do you plan on going? AFAIK, the TBI cars had the speed limiter at 110 MPH

I can burn one for you for $50, if I can find another chip lying around. The blank chips used in the TBI cars got quite expesive locally, $28 just for a blank chip.

For comparison, the Flash Chips I use in the TPI cars are larger with more memory and I can get those for $6 a pop.

 

Can you burn me one that would be the same as a Hypertech, for a 1992 TPI CAmaro Z28 5.0?
