How big can i go for tires on my Z?

Hi, i was just wondering how big i would be able to go on the rear tires of my 1983 Z28. I currently have 265/50/15 but they are getting pretty bald, and i was wondering if i could replace them with wider or taller tires.
thanks.

I am running 275/40/17's up front, and 285/40/17's in the back. If I pound into a dip accidtentally, my rear tires hit the lip of the car.
Other than that, fine.

I'm running 275 40R17's up front on 17x9.5 ZR1 rims and 315 35R17's in the rear on 17x11 ZR1's. It's a tight fit, but it does.

255/40/17's up front (V700 Victorracers)
315/35/17's Out back (Nitto Drags/Skinnier than a normal 315mm)

Those are on 17X8.5" front and 17X9.5" rear rims.

28X11.50X15" ET Streets out back also on summer nights on 15X8" rims with 5.5" BS

Lowered of course and yes there was a little bit of massaging with a 5 pound sledge.
