How accurate are the....

G-tech and Gtech Pro units. Are they worth the money? Any comparison to a real dyno or track?

For a rough reading, they are ok but for an exact number, the track is best. What are you using it for?

I'd say they're totally accurate. From what I've seen, the ET's are usually within 1/10 of a second. the trap speed is usually a little bit off. But for something even THAT accurate that you can pick up off ebay for sometimes $50, it's definitely worth it. Usually the ones that say they aren't worth it are the ricers in denial of their 19 second wonders.

For tuning or getting an idea of how fast the car is they're fine from what ive heard. But nothing is going to give you as accurate a number as the track.
Its better than the kid in the honda with a stop watch who measured a quarter mile with his odometer, then deducts a few seconts from the results for various reasons. Thats how we have all these 10 secont civics running around

That's way off and not totally accurate when it is within 1/10 of a second. I thought they were less than that deviance.

It's totally accurate when all you've been using is a marked off quarter mile and a stop watch.

OK fellas, looks like we've got some numbers to back up the g-tech. My friend who ran a 15.9 on the g-tech finally went to the track where he was runnin 15.9's and 16 flats all day. For something that costs less than 2 trips to the track, that's pretty damn accurate.

not if ya get a ticket while your trying to use it

no i dont speak from experience... yet

(it seems like its pretty nice tool and you guys have had some success so i might end up pickin one up too)

if its only a tenth off i think that is really acurate,
because think about this: you can run on the track and not get the same time to the tenths place anyway, so that sounds like a very good reading for the range in which you should do.
