Mine said it in the RPO codes. You can also jack the car up, mark the driveshaft and tires. Have someone spin the tires one full rotation, count the number of times the d/s spins. It might be the other way around.

you mark the driveshaft and the tire. in stead of spinning wheel you spin the drive shaft. and count the revolutions untill wheel spin's once. i did that. IT CAME OUT TO 3 AND 1/3 REV'S SO THAT WOULD BE 3.30:1 ALMOST SO I'D SAY 3.27 IS RATHER CLOSE. SORRY FOR CAP'S DAMN BUTTON STUCK.

10 bolts had 3.23 available. When you posted 3.27 and L98 I automatically thought you had a 9 bolt.

Why hasn't anyone suggested a cam yet? Did I miss him saying he didn't want one or what?

But yeah, that's what I suggest. Get rid of your 305 peanut cam and get something with some better specs. It will definately boost your low end even more and will even get you some top end. Then of course, to take advantage of all the new top end, make sure the car can breath: port your head, get headers, catback, intake, the works.

Like everyone else said, don't worry about chips, unless you burn your own or have someone else do it to your specs. Good luck with everything, sounds like you've got a beast in the making.

THEY HAD 305 CAM'S IN THE 350'S TOO????
A CAM HUMMMM SOUNDS COOL BUT BEFORE I GET THAT DEEP I WANNA GET THE 91 ALL UP And done i got about $4,000 more to go on that car. so i'm going for the cheep the easy on the 87 gta for now.
cause the 3.73 gears i got. new exhaust i got. so when i get deeper into the motor. i'll do the cam and intake to match up with the 3.73's.
if you read the cam question topic under the third gen from first post to the last post you'll find out that this car will be rather mild compard to the other car.

Yeah man you definitely need a cam.

I'm running a Comp Cams 264, the specs are-

210/220 duration at .050 lift.
480/480 lift
112LSA and 108 intake centerline.

Honestly I'm VERY damn impressed with my 335. I've ridden in my buddies 13 second 305 TPI 5spd the other week, and my car pulls even harder than that. This car seems to have a boatload of torque. I did the burnout contests this past weekend, the car held in 4th gear (Overdrive) at half throttle at 3600rpm. Oh and this is with 2.73 gears.

I'm getting it dynoed on July 26th, I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

i restarted the topic on my 91. so go to, 91 firebird 400 project. post and you can see why the l-98 350tpi isn't my most important project. i'm just look for some cheep quick **** to make it faster. i'll do the 3.73 gears. and cam it later to match up the gears right on. but just some other cheep quick easy add on's for now would be cool. for my 87 GTA L-98 350tpi the oldlady has the 335tpi now. and yes my 335tpi was built not bought.
