Help with cam

Hello all, I keep reading all these posts about how an upgraded cam will help performance, it sounds great except for I have no idea what else I need. So I guess my question is what type of cam should I get, and what else should I upgrade to help it do its job? Its a 1988 camaro Z28 with a 350 V8. For headers, hooker supercomb LT with a spintech muffler.

Re: Help with cam

First you need to tell us what its going in and what the vehicle will be used for...whether you want to run it on the street sometimes, never, daily driver, etc.

What are you trying to do w/ your car? How fast do you want to go?

You need to do basic bolt ons (intake, exhaust, headers, etc etc) before you get into cam swaps and such as far as im concerned.

hope this helps

Re: Help with cam

Almost drive daily, I'd like it to reach its maximum hp and torque potential, I'd like it to be loud and fast. I'm looking at the 252H High Energy model simply because its compadible with a 350 V8 which is what I have. Not sure if that will help much though.

Re: Help with cam

That cam is way to small to be worth the effort. Still need more info before we can recommend anything

Re: Help with cam

Its an auto, 5.7, not sure what you mean when you say "intake setup", but I know it has an Edelbrock intake. I have no clue what emissions are. Honestly guys I'm not really in the know about this stuff, I'm just trying to do anything I can to help upgrade my car. Thank you all for your help.

Re: Help with cam

Is it fuel injected or carb'd?

You said it has an Edelbrock intake so I guess its a carb'd car,but in all honesty...if you cant tell us what kind of intake setup your running a cam swap is way too deep for your knowledge.
