Re: Pssing emmissions with a carb

Where do you live at? I see that you have a new edelbrock carb on there. They jet those things for sea level so if you live anywhere about in the mountains you have to re-jet them a size or two smaller otherwise they are a bitch to pass. You can try tweaking with the adjustments a little more. If you are real nice to the guy they can put the machine in manual mode and you can acctually adjust the mixture screws and watch all of your gas reading change, Live data. Thats usually how I adjust mine (have an emmision machine at work) If you failed on high speed HC then sometimes just pulling off your vacumn advance to your distributor will help you pass. Like I said though if you live up above about 3000 feet I would down jet that carb, atleast for your emmison test. Hope this helped somewhat

one last note, burn out all the other additives you added to the gas tank because some can acctually hurt you more then help you and put some good gas in it (chevron) and buy some Sea-Foam fuel cleaner and run it for about 100 miles. I've seen that stuff work wonders, best fuel cleaner I've seen yet.

Thanks for the info guys, nashville is about 600ft elev, The "fuel line water remover" is proven for lowering HC, most alcohol products are I think. I am gonna try to retard the timing a little more tomorrow.

Jet the car a little bit lean, and turn the idle up just a little. Good luck!
