Heads??
Heads??
well i was out working on my car today, had the hole car flat on the fround and running, i checked underneath and it had a small drop of oil already, so i fix a few things and change the idle speed for winter well i start to pour in another quart of oil and notice that just under the exhaust manifold its leaking down onto the motor mounts, then onto the ground, i think that somewhere on the heads there are a few bolts or something missing so the oil goes into the heads then right back out. what do you all think, ever herd of anything like this?
thanks for any help

You shouldn't have any oil leaking from your heads internally. There should not be any oil in them. Just water and coolant. Have you made sure the leek is not from the valve cover. Look real close between the top of the exhaust manifold and the valve cover.
I can only think of a few ways oil could be getting in the heads. From the on top with leaky valve seals or straight into the combustion chamber past the rings. I wonder if you could have such a bad exhaust valve seal that oil could leak down in the exhaust port. But you shouldnt see that oil. It should exit the tailpipe.
Probably the valve cover leaking.

well i know that it shouldnt be the valve covers because i just replaced them and made sure that they were good and sealed and snug to the heads, i couldnt tighten them down anymore, so i guess im goint to have to take off the hood again, the AC, and exhaust and figure this crap out. thanks for the help though.

When you say, "I couldn't tighten them down anymore"...Does that mean you tightened it until you had no more strength to muster?
If so, it IS possible to overtighten a gasketed surface like that. When you do that, the soft gasket splits and then a leak developes. Right? I would double check the gaskets first. Goodluck

Use carb or brake cleaner and clean off all the oil first. Drain out the oil from the oil pan and remove the valve cover that you fill into. Pour the oil onto the head so it doesn't spill over the edge. This would be just like you filling it up. If it doesn't leak, the valve cover is the problem. It may be broken or the valve cover was overtightened.
There are drain holes that drain the oil back to the pan but I can't think of a way it could do what you just described.
