Grinding (metal on metal) during turning?

So all of a sudden, my car starts making one of those great noises that just makes you want to bite off your tongue. You know the kind. Sounds like metal grinding against metal and getting bounced around.

It happens when my front right tire hits about a 45º angle to the subframe on right-handers. Happens to be about right at the apex of any given right-hand corner. It's not the wheel rubbing, we checked that, it's definately a metal on metal sound.

The other day i had a freeway blowout on the front right, where the sound is, and had to drive a space on it before I could pull over. My only guess is that the hub spline is losing thread when I crank it. Ideas? Quickly? I wanna autox this week and I need practice. Much, much practice.

pull the rotor off and check the wheel bearings, most the time they roar when they burn up, but worth a look. and usually do it when u turn the wheels 1 to the side that takes the most load.
