Re: Gas Tank

Since the LS1 tank has a rubber filler neck I have heard a lot of people going with that one as well.

Oh really I did not know that. I have been keeping my eye open for a 1LE third gen tank because of that exact reason. I am going to now have to do some looking into the tank swap for later on.

Re: Gas Tank

99+ are plastic, are lighter and have a larger capacity. I believe that you need to shorten the filler hose like mentioned earlier.

Re: Gas Tank

how much would a 4th gen gas tank cost?: Less than $100 AFAIK
how much lighter is it: Not much at all, a few pounds is all really...I think the figure was 6lbs??
how difficult is it to shorten the filler neck?: Apparently just a razor knife.

However, this is all putting the cart before the horse. You also need to modify the sending unit to get it to work with a 3rd gen. You need to puncture part of it, not sure which, to enable the return line to dump the fuel back into the tank. Also, provisions need to be made for the charcoal cannister.

Go to www.thirdgen.org and search for "LS1 gas tank in 3rd gen" and see what you getr.
