friend is looking at a 1990 Iroc

Are there any common problems in the third gens. Its a 1990 Iroc with only 60k miles and is going for 1k. He said the gears are messed up and that it was used for racing, I am going to look at the car with him and want to know any tips for looking at third gens.

Thanks in advance

WOW! Sounds really cheap for a 90 Iroc with that few miles. If I were you I'd make sure everything checked out fine. But if all is good, consider yourself lucky, that's a great deal!

90 IROC's were the most rare IROCs due to Dodge taking over te International Race of Champions in mid-year 1990 so the production of them only lasted the 1st half of the year.

Also, if it was used for racing it may be an even more rare 1LE car. Look for radio delete, no a/c, no power windows or locks, and no t-tops.

Even if the car is ready for the junkyard it would be worth buying to re-sell to a collector. Don't pass it up.

It'd be worth a grand even as a parts car!
Mine has over 170K miles and still runs like a champ! And ran low 14's BONE STOCK with over 100K on the clock!
Grab it before it's gone...

I read about how rare they are . AlabamaOutlaw-are you serious about me e-mailing you if my friend doesn't get the car? I will if you want me to, the car is in Hayward which is about 45 min. North of San Jose. (25 min. in a Camaro )
Do all of the 1990 Irocs have a 350?

No, the 305 TPI is the standard engine for 1990 IROC's. You'll have to look at the 8th digit of the VIN number to see. An 8 means its a 350, and an F is a 305. And if its a stick shift, then it came with a 305, unless something was swapped in.

Its an auto. It probably has the 5.0 (305) then and there were only about 50 1990 1LE Irocs. Still should be a pretty sweet car.
