Flow Master Aftercat Exhaust Can I get it off??
Wow I think I broke my back today I have a 1991 flowmaster exhaust which I want to take off and slap into my 91 convertible. Can I get this off? Doesn't want to come out because the way the pipe is bent.
Any ideas? I have no welding equipment

You have to remove a lot of your rear suspension and drop the rear axle as far as it will go in order to remove the cat-back. Its actually easier than it looks, just time consuming. Make sure you disconnect the rear brake lines from the body so you dont break them when dropping the axle.
Re: Flow Master Aftercat Exhaust Can I get it off??
are you just having problems pulling the pipes off? or trying to get it over the rear axle?....
im acually in the process of making my life alot easier when i need to drop my cat back.
but if you need to get the back half off. just take off the panhard bar, and bar, then let the rear drop down. depending on how high you have your car your gonna need to loosen your tips so they can tilt up as you go to pull the exhaust over the axle.
if you just cant get the pipes seperated. uh ! i remeber my first time. basically i had to be super man. but the secind time i just cut a slit on the side. but now im going to weld on some 3 bolt flanges!. oh yeah and a cut out too! hehe
good luck

Got the bolts off (snapped one of the ones connected to the cat so I had to drill it out pain in the butt!) Problem is getting the exhaust over the rear u know that crazy funky turn the pipe does. How far up do I have to get the car? I have those ramps thats as far as I can get the car up.
Basically I have a 91 t-top camaro that has a flowmaster exhaust on it. I wanted to pull that out and drop it into my 91 Convertible camaro. So this weekend I picked up my 91 convertible and took off the rotted exhaust.
I have the flowmaster aftercat disconnected but didnt see anyway of pulling it out, straight back.
Sounds like a lot of work so I would have to disconnect the panhard bar and that would cause my rear to drop (And support my brake lines)? Does the rear drop from both sides? Hmmm I am nervous about doing that imagine a bolt snaps on me then I will be screwed!!
Maybe I should cut the pipe that goes over the rear and then just take it to shop to weld the old one off and a new one. Can a muffler shop do that? What do u guys think?

Re: Flow Master Aftercat Exhaust Can I get it off??
I don't think you'll break a bolt in the rear suspension. You may have to disconnect your sway bar as well as the rear stabilizer bar and brace. You MUST have a jack and jackstands to do this task because you must move your rear axle as far away from the body as you can to get the pipe out. Its much easier than it sounds. The only potential problem is if you forget to disconnect the brake line guide from the body. If you don't, you wont have enough slack in your brake line to drop the axle and you can potentially break it.

Guys just wanted to follow up on this. Now do I need to drop the rear on both sides of the car? Or can I just drop out the right hand side and that will give me enough room. Well now thinking about that I don't that will work but hey I would rather ask before doing
Still sounds like major work...But I need to get that damn muffler!!
Anyone have pics on this type of work?
thank you as always fella's
