Engine Swap Questions
well here's what im doing, i have an 89 firechicken with a v6 in it, and i have a friend with a 350 4-bolt, headers, and dual flowmasters from his 80 z. I know its all going to fit and what not, but the only uncertainties i have are the engine mounts, and the bell housing, and we dont think the bell housing from his 3speed hurst is going to match my 5-speed tranny, (and no i dont want to use his 3-speed). if this is the case, what's the cost going to be to get the right bell housing.
and if anyone can think of any other possible technical difficulties, please let me know taking into account that i need new suspension anyways.
thanks a lot guys

The 2nd gen headers won't clear the 3rd gen subframe, and the rest of the exhaust probably won't fit either. The V6 tranny won't work at all, and even if you found a bellhousing and clutch to fit it, it probably wouldn't last 2 weeks. You'll need 3rd gen V8 car springs, radiator, motor mounts, transmission, driveshaft, crossmember, and probably other parts that I'm forgetting. It's hard to do this swap without a rear-ended V8 car for parts.
However, if you can get the engine cheap, and find a V8 3rd gen in a junkyard to rob parts out of, it could be worth the time and effort.
