its gonna be a semi difficult task. engine harness, mounts, cooling system, AC if you want it, rear end, front suspension etc need to be changed. unless you want to keep the car because of sentimental value, then i say sell it and buy a newer v8 car. then go from there. this can nickle and dime you to death and then you still have a stock 305 car. and 84 wasnt one of the faster years either. i think with the money you would invest in this car to get everything right you could have a decent IROC or TA or something that came with a v8 stock.

if youve got the motor/tranny already it wouldnt get too expensive. rear ends i think were all the same, 10 bolts all same as 10 bolts, 9 bolts all same as 9 bolts. was the car originally an auto or manual and are you putting in an auto or manual. if its the same kind of tranny (auto/man) then that wouldnt be a problem. as far as front suspension, different struts? when i got my new struts they asked if it was a v8 or v6, probably v8 ones hold up a little more weight. hope i helped maybe someone with a little more knowledge will chime in...
