Engine choice

Hey all, I have an '83 Z28 I'm working on and was hoping for some feedback on what engine to swap in it. It originally had the 305 Cross-Fire Injection engine. I have a 305 TPI from a '91 Z28 that I was thinking of saving the TPI system on and putting it with a 350 or 327 with vortec heads and vortec lower intake. My other plan is to swap in an LT1 from a newer camaro. So my questions are.
1) How does the Vortec TPI combo perform, is it worth the time, money and hassle over the LT1? Also, has anyone used this combo on a 327 engine? I like the nostalgic theme of this but not sure how much sense it makes given the lower end power of the TPI coupled with the short stroke of the 327.
2) Exactly how much hassle is the LT1 swap into an older third gen?

Thanks in advance. I'll spend some time trying to look at old threads, but I have a really slow computer and it's a major pain.

if it were me and you werent in a hurry, id go with the F.A.S.T EZ efi and a holley stealth ram. LOTS of options by having the HSR and with EZ efi you dont have to tune it. it tunes itself and is good up to 500 hp.

id throw a set of RHS 12022-2 180 runner alum heads and a mid range cam and go. this will be plenty of fun, fuel efficent and plenty of go. that is if you plan on driving this thing any reasonable amount. if its strictly a stop light warrier and track car id go with a bigger cam setup.

the tbi setup from the 91 is not a good choice and would choke a vortec setup and sucks all the way around. The vortec heads are awesome and would work great on a 327 If you go that route just put a carb on it. The lt1 is an awesome swap choice but a ls1 swap would be even better. thirdgen.org has great info on swapping lt1s
