Question Emissions Help !!!!

How would I go about taking the emissions control out of a 1991 z28 Camaro, 350, stock. I'm doing a rebuild, cam/lifter, rebuild kit, headers, port/polish. How do I take all that pollution stuff out, is it easy, or is there a lot of mods to go along with it. Can anyone help me on this???

Re: Emissions Help !!!!

The EGR has to stay, as its controlled by the computer and will set a code if its not there. Everything else can be removed fairly easily.

Keep in mind you're violating federal laws by doing this.

Re: Emissions Help !!!!

you EGR also helps to cool down your cylinder not only to reduce NOx but also to help stop you from damaging anything, sort of like a back-up protector

Re: Emissions Help !!!!

You'd want to have a custom EPROM anyways to take advantage of even a stock system. Have them remove code 32 and you can remove your EGR with no side effects. Had the Superram on my car and now the Holley Stealthram and never ran an EGR since 93. No problems yet.

Re: Emissions Help !!!!

well you may be lucky but what the EGR does is place inert gas into your cylinder which allows for less fuel/air to come in, and it cools the cylinder off (therefore ruducing NOx which is produced over 2400*F). even if you keep you coolant temp at 160* your cylinder can still reach over 2400*F and damage piston rings and burn valves and such, it may not affect older cars as much as it does newer but i've been told time and time again its better to have that little piece of equipment than to not. things like an air pump (secondairy air), EVAP, and catalyst aren't necessary but i really think an EGR is.
