my Camaro is in the shop

Well last tuesday I took my Iroc in to the shop for some Computer work (Burn the chip & come computer tuning) Well they found out that there was more wrong with the car then we first thought, That was preventing the car from running right.

First they found like half the wires were stuck to the headers & fried to it so that all has to be fixed before they can tune the chip ((*^&*&(^&%&$^$#%@#$@%#^%&^(* muffler shop that did it). They also found that the one of the header gaskets blew (they are less then a year old) & that the shop that did the headers didnt use the right gaskets on them. SO now that all needs to be replaced

They also found that the stat was stuck open & needs to be replaced as well .

The funny thing about this is this is the first HSR they have done So this is a learning prosses for them. & they have never really messed with the 3rd gen Camaros. So they didnt know that the 87-89 computers were the same. I fought with them for over an hour with them until I finally called the local dealership & asked them & they said yep only the chip was different. So Instead of costing us an extra 1k for the Chip, Computer & the repairs that they now have to do to get it running right. its only going to cost us about $500. so now the total is up to $1500 from $1k

Alkim before you say anything My husband & I would have never noticed the wiring or the stat so taking it in was the best bet.

Sorry to hear about the mishaps! If it makes you feel any better I've burned everything(almost) on my headers...List: Countless spark plug wires, Positive Battery cable TWICE(fire!), My hands, arms, and once I had the siren for an alarm come loose from it's mount and fall onto the headers while on the highway...It was melted beyond recognition...

Well my one boss thought I could hold the Muffler shop liable for the wires & the gasket but I cant since its been almost a year & they would turn around & said that we did it after it came in to the shop.

i will tell you a simple mod that enhances your engine and protects your wires from the headers.

they are wire mounts that attach to your valve cover, they can be 2 or 4 prong and they hold the wires up in the air away from the motor.

they cost like 8 dollars i got mine at advances auto in the hop it up section.
