Does The Fuel Pump Run Constantly
This may be a stupid question to some, but im gonna ask it anyway. Does the fuel pump run constantly? My computer took a dive and im really not using it for anything other than the fuel pump and oil pressure cutoff switch. Im wondering if I just run a switch to the fuel pump and use a different oil guage if that would be fine. That is why Im wondering if the fuel pump runs constantly in all third gen's.......
Thanks again.....

Re: Does The Fuel Pump Run Constantly
The computer also watches the tach signal and if it sees no activity, it turns off the fuel pump. So it does a couple things:
1) Upon ignition key-on, it primes the pump for a second or two.
2) Upon tach trigger (indicating cranking of the engine) it turns on the pump.
3) Upon removal of the tach signal (indicating engine stall or shutdown) it turns off the pump.
This is important stuff, especially in a crash. Otherwise your pump could happily dump your whole fuel tank into the blazing inferno that used to be the hot engine compartment.
