Does a bigger cam require a chip in a TPI?

I need some help from all you TPI guys. I have had a LS1 camaro and a LT1 camaro but this is my first TPI venture.

I have a 1985 corvette with the 350 TPI and the engine was just completely rebuilt by a corvette shop and they put a large cam in it, it idles real rough and I need to know if a chip or tuning would help this? I just bought the car and I don't know if it was tuned or has a chip. It runs rough but has plenty of power.
Any advice will be appreciated, thanks.
Also what cheap mods can I do to add power and most of all get better gas mileage if possible?
thanks in advance.

tuning couldn't hurt. well it could but they should be able to make it run better with some tunning

yes, if it is a big enough cam, and you say it is large, you will need a chip to compensate for the fuel mixture, etc...

If you install a crane compu cam then no. It depends on what size. The MAF will compensate for mild cams.

Thanks guys, I think when I get some money together I will find someplace to tune it, it is running rich right now.

If you want I can take a look at it. I know a little about TPI motors. Check out my sig and website. I don't live far from you.

You've got mail Chris Ja.

Question: would a large cam and no chip or tuning cause my TPI car to run crappy and vibrate on the highway?
