Custom Hood Pics..Yay Or Nay?
82 Plastic Hood w/Fiberglass scoop.
Finished, need to tighten up front gap though.
Thumbs up or down?
I dig it. Hole was cut under scoop for a 14" K&N filter to peek through. Super Vic+Plate+Carb+Air cleaner=TALL...

I've modified a few of the 82-83 factory fiberglass hoods. At least that hood scoop fits nicer over those hood indents even if they were never functional from the factory.
Here was my first scoop. There was a lot of bondo and fiberglass added to get a smooth look but I think it added 10-20 pounds to the hood.

I finally picked up another factory fiberglass hood and installed a 6" cowl onto it. This time I did a better job and just bolted it on with a whole bunch of stainless machine screws. At the time I was still using a single carb and the 4x14" air filter was tucked up inside the scoop but had more room around it than when it was inside the aeroscoop.

Now with the tunnel ram, I had to cut a hole through the 6" cowl but also made a pan under the filter base to seal the opening.

Because of the length of the 6" cowl, it covers the factory indents better than the aeroscoop did. It's still cheaper than buying an aftermarket fiberglass hood.

Sorry about the larger picture sizes
I was just looking at those 3 pictures. Amazing what you see after a few years. Other than decals that have changed, the rear tires are all different. Top is Hoosier, middle is Goodyear, bottom is MT. Each time I changed brands I also went to bigger tires.

The ET front tires were so I could raise the nose of the car higher. 25" tall VW tires to 27.5" front runners gives an extra 1.25" under the front end. The large tube headers with 4" collectors still scrape when I come out my garage or load onto the trailer.
