I run a Crane hyd. cam in my '77, which weighs about 3850# with me in it. Just a cheap ole cam & lifter kit, 234/244 @ 0.050" and small block, still using stock stamped steel rockers and 1.94/1.50 valves, dual plane intake, vac. secondary Holley carb. So far have hit a best of 12.15 on drag radials in the heat with the stock flat steel hood (no source of cold air to the carb).

I'd say Crane knows what they're doing. Just my experience.
