Cracked Flexplate

Anyone had their flexplate crack up on them?? Car developed a noise that initially sounded like a lifter tick. After a 130 mph run down the freeway, it got a lot louder. Pulled the dust cover off, and low and behold, cracks from the outside in, and all around the center section. Just curious if anyone else has had this happen to them.

How are the teeth? Check the starter too. Make sure that it is fine or the starter might chew up the new flexplate too. Ask me how I know.

I tore the center out of mine shortly after I swapped in the 355. Replaced it and the tranny died 6 months later (which I used as an excuse to swap in a T56.)

THanks for the replies. I think I will get a aftermarket piece so this doesn't happen again. Planning on a blower soon.

Rough starting yes, because the ring gear doesn't line up with the starter like it should.

I didn't have a problem with surging but anything's possible...and since 4th gear is when the TC locks up, it makes sense that it would be worse then.
