Question Coolant Temp. Sensor question-

This might be a dumb question to some, but is there a coolant temp. sensor in both the intake and the head? If so, why? I take it one is for the temp gauge and the other is for computer purposes? I just always assumed the one sensor in the head took care of all - thanks in advance-

yes. the one in the intake is for the computer. the one in the driver side head is for the temp gauge. also, technically, there is a third. the one in the passenger side head is the fan switch. i have no idea why, just guessing it could be in case the one for the gauge breaks the computer is still getting temp readings?

Depending on the year of your 3rd. Gen not sure all have three sensors. I have a 1989 RS and I know of only two sensors. The one in the intake controls the fan and computer and the one in the drivers' side head is for the temperture gauge readout on dash .
