code 43 after rebuild

I'm getting a code 43 (knock sensor) since my rebuild. I put in vortec heads good for 550 lift, cam with a little over 500 lift,SDPC TPI intake, Edelbrock HI-FLO runners, long tube headers, new pushrods, new lifters, double roller timing set, New rings, New mains and rod bearings. ported plenum, 52mm throttle body, 24# SVO injectors and other stuff. Anyone else ever had this problem. I've got the timing set at 10 and it cranks up fine unless I've been running it then when I kill it, it acts like the timing is advanced to much or the motor is so tight it doesn't want to turn over. I've got a new battery and it acts like it gets drained after trying to crank it after running the car. I just wonder if the code has anything to do with this? One other thing, while driving the trouble light will go off and come back on after about a minute. Any ideas?

what kind of chip (prom) are u running? the cam might be the cause of the sensor code.

for the slow turnover, try setting the timing to 8*. if that doesnt help, then it may just be heat soak on the starter, typical 3rd gen problem.

hope that helps

It is a custom burned chip and I was running 8* before I set it at 10*.

Who burnt it and why are you going that high? it should be 6 deg.

I was getting that code but it turned out to be the wiring was bad. Check the connector. Did you put teflon on the threads of the KS?
