I think Code 36 is for the MAF burnoff relay.

Yeah, that's right. It's the self cleaning circuit, check the relays. It will slow the resonse to changes in driving conditions seen at the computer.

I found the relays. They look the same...are they?. Cleared the code and tried the car again today. It never missed a beat. Started it and stopped it a few times before I went out...no code. Drove the car for quite a few miles got home, stopped it started it...code 36 set again!. My question now is how does the MAF burn off problem affect the cars performance?. It felt better than ever today. Can I swap those 2 relays to test for the problem?. Thanks

If the MAF gets dirt build up, it will dull it's sensitivity to changes in air temperature slowing the ECM's response to throttle changes.

I believe fuel/MAF relays are the same
just switch them

might want to shake the relays, too, and see if you can hear parts broken inside

don't forget to clear the codes(disconnect battery for 30 seconds or so) before starting the car, after changing the relays, to make sure you're not bringing up old codes
