clearance problems?

clearance problems?
im putting this mysterious 5.8L GM (dont ask) in my 88 camaro sport coupe as some of you know, the carb went on today and we had to use a 1 inch spacer because it was the only way to get the carb to clear (i think a valve or something was hitting the intake), im gunna use the stock TNI air cleaner for now, so would an edlebrock Q jet with a one inch spacer and TBI air cleaner clear a stock hood?
