Choke wont close/go off

Choke wont close/go off

i have a 86 trans am, 305 carb, it just happened today, i started my car andlet it warm up, it was ideling at 1500 and when i came back out it was ideling at 2000 and i hit the gas to take it off andit just dropped back down to 1500 again, i tryed n tryed i couldnt get it to go off, so i poped hood and took air cleaner assembly off and i looked at the carb n choke assembly, well i noticed on the passenger side of carb where choke assebly is i pushed a gold peice down that had a E on it, and choke was fine, but when i hit the gas again it came bck on and wouldnt go off..whats wrong?? what should i do or try?

I'm no expert on Carbs by any means, but that used to happen on my 88' caprice. So i made a regular habbit of cleaning the whole choke and carb assembly with choke cleaner every few weeks just to prevent it from sticking.

can i use WD40 or do i need carb cleaner, where exactly did u sray, did u spray,like on top of carb and on side?
