No **** we need brake boosters with disc brakes, that is why disc equipped cars come with them. Drum brakes can have more surface contact area, but disc brakes will always have more clamping force, thanks to brake boosters.

i'm not saying that disc/disc is a bad street setup just not nessessary. i wouldn't buy a $1,200 rear disc brake upgrade because i'd be wasting my money unless I raced the car.

brake booster just multiply force. how does this make disc brakes more powerful?

forget about the brake boosters because they are another part of the equation. just think of the acutal brakes.

1200$? I paid 100$ for a 99 TA rear end with disc brakes, so my rear disc brake upgrade cost 100$. My car stops better now, I guess drum brakes are superior, right?

and the reason your car stops better is you probly got big rotors and a strong booster. not because they are disc brakes. theyre probly sliding caliper too. if I had a race car i would get 4 piston disc brakes

78% of the air is nitrogen, howd i know that? i learned it in welding class
Judging from the rest of this thread, you may be passing welding, but not doing so good in basic english and you're probably failing horribly in common sense 101.

Re: To carb or not to carb....

the reason why carbs are used in drag racing is because drag racing is all about acceleration. in a gasoline engine accleration comes down to how much fuel and air you can you can get into your engine and how fast you can do it. efi uses a realitively small throttlebody and runners to feed the engine. race carbs use 4500 series carbs that are huge and single plane manifolds. the hole that the carb sits on is big enough to stick your foot in. this allows the gas and air to be dumped strait to the cylinders and then big headers suck it out. my neighbor had a s-10 race truck with a 502 chevy engine and a 4500 series carb and it would burn 5 gallons on one pass and reach a speed of over 160 mph. I think this is why fi is used in other motorsports and not drag racing. If you have never punched the gas pedal to the floor in a big 4 barrel carb car then maybe this is y you guys dont like carbs. I can feel the differnce in efi and carbs when i drive them.

Re: To carb or not to carb....

There are guys running faster than 160 mph in the quarter, not burning 5 gallons of gas, on small blocks, and with EFI!!!!

its kinda funny that all over this messege board there are threads by people who are having trouble with thier efi but I've yet to see one person post a thread about a carb problem.

Re: To carb or not to carb....

the problem i have with this messege board is that everybody on here is a car guy and I'm a racer. You guys like cars dont you? you love camaros. I hate camaros and every car that left the factory door. the only enjoyment I get out of cars is to tear them down to nothing and build them back into race cars. I love seeing a 2000 and something cavalier being turned into a rwd with a carberated engine and a powerglide and watching it take off down the track with the front tires off the ground. The feeling of punching a carberated car and being thrown back into the seat instantly and feeling all the power and hearing the carb suck down the air/fuel and hearing the loud exhaust is the only thing I care about in cars. You guys will never understand me as long as you are car guys and I will never understand you guys. So this argument is officaly over.
