I have a 91 Z-28 305 TPI. The car will up and die going down the road, like you turned the key off. I have the right amount of fuel pressure & I have fire. I have checked ignition module, the service engine light is not on.If you let the car sit then it might start, but it spits & sputters.Somedays it will start, others it won't.Some days the car runs perfect, then the next day it will leave you walking.I hope someone can help!? Thanks.

 

have you checked your distributor? maybe its time for a tune up. cap/rotor/plugs/wires.

I know this sounds to easy, but check your ground cable. Makes sure it is tight on the battery andthe frame. Also have your battery tested.

I checked all that everything is o.k. I appreciate the help guys. People keep telling me it could be a bad injector & it is shutting down the rest. When it does start after one of its episodes, it rolls black smoke out of the exhaust like it was flooded. So I really don't think it is an injector. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

 

running an aftermarket ignition box? My accel died while doing 50mph...the car just shut down...found out the box shorted out.

I had a simliar problem..ran fine one day, then id try to start it and it would sputter and die other days. The box was going out then coming back etc..however when she stalled..i was able to pull the code 42.

 

o and also try the fuel pump relay...

 

No, I am running all stock. If my fuel pump relay was out, I would not have fuel press. right?

 

i had a problem like that, and it was the MAF sensor...

EDIT: just realized you have a 91 and its speed density...nevermind
