car got read-ended this morning....

Well guys, I knew this day would come. I have not even gotten paid for the dent that that dude gave me two years ago, and not to mention the law suit he dragged ME through..... And this morning, on my way to work, JUST started pulling away from a light that had turned green proly 3 seconds ago, and I was just into the crosswalk when BOOM, hit from the rear, knocked me across the intersection and almost to the curb. Took me a few seconds to realize what had happened, and I look behind and see a CHICK in a cavalier, with her man in the pass seat both looking like they jhust woke up from a bad dream, *******s, i cannot believe this. SO i got the digi cam and called my father out there, and the ****ing SFPD is all a bunch of scumbags and crookes, becuase unless their is injury, no one will be dispatched to the scene, so you're on your own to deal with it. I swear, im still not believing this. Now I dunno what to do, because I am sure that the damage is more than 1500.00. and since the KBB on my car is only 3K, I would think its a total??? Looks like I'll be in the market for that 4th gen after all. But I wish my car didn't have to go out like that. I will contact the insurance company, and see what happens, cant even drive it cuz the exhaust is pushed down to the floor. Think some good thoughts for me fellas.....

Thanks

Will

I still find it a mystery how some people can be so stupid as to miss a car that's directly in front of them.

Get off the f*cking cell phone!!!

Sorry dude, hope you're alright. Keep us posted.

My buddy just had the same thing happen, $3,000+ later his car (1990 IROC) still doesn't look like it used to.

Hope everything turns out ok.

A lot of times if your ride is totaled, you can buy it from the insurance company for a small fee. Thats what happened to me when mine was totaled they offered me the car and cash or just a larger sum of cash if I didn't want to keep the car. Good luck.

If you are going to buy it back don't give them the title because then it will be re-titled as salvaged.

well, its official, I've got whiplash. Just got back from the ER. Man, what a weekend. I don't know yet whats going to become of my 3rd gen. I would love to keep it, but its a pretty large amount of damage. I wish my first car didnt have to go out like this.... I doubt that it would be worth fixing all that damage. But we shall see. Hopefully, I can get a nice 4th gen SS or something out of this. But only time will tell. Thanks guys

I know the car could be saved, its just that out here in cali, with all the emissions laws and crappy older car values, they try and get em off the road asap. I wont see much for her, and I know that damage is gonna run more than I paid for her anyway. It just sucks, but I have my sights set on a 70K mile 88 iroc, might be a good one!

Quarterpanel damage is usually fatal for these cars. To really fix it you have to cut the quarter off and weld another one on. I would pretty much count on it being totalled.

I hate it for ya man.....

Quarter panels arent that hard to put on.... I got one cheap off of ebay .. OEM for about $100 .... but that was a hell of a deal..... but .... IMO ... i wouldnt let it go to the junk yard..... make the b***h pay for her mistake and your doctor bills.... I dont see why this is coming from your pocket or your insurance company? Unless I missed something....

Im just worried that because of the age of the car im not gonna ****, but then again I am always thinking of the worse. so Im sure they are gonna pay for this, infact, my oss told me if they dont, he was going to contact his attorney and he would take care of it for me, so its nice to know I have some help here.... Bu thanks guys!!! I work in a body shop and know that this could easily be repaired, its just the issue of damage out-weighing the value of my car in the first place........
