Arrow I bet no one can figure this out!! Can this Happen?

I have a friend who just got a hold of a camaro and the owner said that the oil had gelled and the motor started knocking. I have not heard of this happening and was wondering what could knock after a motor sits for 6 months and starts to knock. I think it may be a lifter sticking. What can be done to figure this out with out taking the motor apart. It is a 2.8 from a 1988 camaro. I have not heard the motor run.

I am not sure what you mean by making noise or not, the owner said that he had to save up money to put a clutch in it and then once he done that he drove it up the road and it started knocking? i have no idea what it could be.
