cam select and speed density?

I'm getting ready to put the xe-r 242/248 112 cam in my 400. My question is, does anyone know if this cam create enough vacum for the engine to run right with the stock computer with a chip? It is going in a 90 formula with a 5sp tremic.

Thanks,
Jeremy

In a 400, who knows. What is your compression? It will be close, just keep the idle speed around 900. A friend had to use a vaccum canister with 11:1 383, and the xe 236-242 cam, but the brakes were just hard, not un-driveable. You will have to adjust the ve table in the chip to get it to idle right.

I'm looking at running around 11:1 and I figured that I would need to run a vac canister that is not a problem. My major concern is that it wouldnt creat enough vacum for the MAP sensor to function properly.

There are others running the same size cam in a solid roller with speed density with no problems. You should be ok. My friend is getting about 10-11", which is more than enough for his map sensor.

What size engine does your friend have and is there a a limit on what size cam you can run with sd?

He has a 383. Here is a guy running maf, not sd with your size cam and a 406, ask him what his experiences are:

I think both of these guys are running solid rollers with sd:

You're going to want a custom chip no matter what. That's too much engine and too much camshaft for the stock chip, no matter if its MAF or MAP.

Or are you asking if it will still run even with a custom chip? Yah, I would say yes.
