Which Is Better: Reverse Or Standard Rotation Water Pump??
Ok...since I asked a question about the significance of the reverse water pump, which would you say is the best for the serpentine setup and why? Is the reverse better for overall High Performance or not? Thx again for your input!!!
Re: Which Is Better: Reverse Or Standard Rotation Water Pump??
same difference- just depends on whether belt runs over or under pulley.
Most factory serp set ups run reverse rotation water pump.
Are you thinking of an LT1 style reverse cooling system-maybe?

As said, there is NO difference in performance, that anyone I know is aware of, but if you manage to install the wrong one you will overheat from virtually NO-flow, caused by rotating the impeller backwards by your pulleys.
The earlier models had a wide grooved belt, with 2 other "V"belts, some call this a serpentine but it really didn't use the smooth side, at least on some. While a true serpentine uses BOTH sides of the belt.
A cheap belt will cause performance to suffer, while a Goodyear Gatorback for examplee can improve performance by reducing slippage.
